Geist: The Sin Eaters
Combat Summary - Armor
Rating is the type of protection offered. Armor provides two kinds of protection: Against general attacks and against Firearms attacks. The number before the slash is the armor rating for most kinds of attacks (close combat and thrown ranged attacks, whether bashing, lethal or perhaps aggravated). The second number is for Firearms attacks – guns and bows. Bulletproof armor (kevlar vest, flak jacket, and full riot gear) also downgrades damage done in Firearms attacks from lethal to bashing.
Strength is the required level in strength your character must have. If your character’s Strength is lower than that required for armor worn, her Brawl and Weaponry attacks suffer a -1 penalty.
Defense is the penalty imposed on your character’s defense trait for the armor worn.
Speed is the penalty imposed on your character’s speed trait for the armor worn.
Cost is the minimum dots in the Resources Merit usually required to purchase the armor.
When applying armor to an attack dealing lethal damage, you’re always going to feel some pain. Even if your armor would reduce the attack to 0 damage, you still take one point of bashing damage.
Characters with supernatural armor, such as a mage’s warding spell or a werewolf’s tough hide can benefit from such protection in addition to mundane armor; add the ratings together to determine a character’s final protection.
